Jaritā said: "The rat emerged from this hole. The little creature was seized by a hawk in its claws and carried away. Therefore, you have nothing to be scared of."
जरीटा ने कहा: "चूहा इस बिल से निकला। छोटे जीव को बाज ने अपने पंजों में पकड़ लिया और ले गया। इसलिए, तुम्हें डरने की कोई जरूरत नहीं है।"
The Śārṅgaka-s replied: "We do not know for certain that the rat was carried away by a hawk. There may be others there and we have every reason to fear them.
सारंगकों ने उत्तर दिया: "हम निश्चित रूप से नहीं जानते कि चूहे को बाज़ द्वारा ले जाया गया था। वहाँ अन्य लोग भी हो सकते हैं और हमारे पास उनसे डरने का हर कारण है।
It is not certain that the fire will reach this place. The wind can be seen to be turning. O mother! But there is no doubt that the creatures in the hole will kill us.
यह निश्चित नहीं है कि आग यहां तक पहुंचेगी. हवा का रुख बदलता हुआ नजर आ रहा है. हे माँ! लेकिन इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि बिल में मौजूद जीव हमें मार डालेंगे।
O mother! An uncertain death is superior to one that is certain. Take to the sky as you should. You will have other handsome sons."
हे माँ! अनिश्चित मृत्यु निश्चित मृत्यु से श्रेष्ठ है। जैसा तुम्हें करना चाहिए वैसा ही आकाश में ले जाओ। आपके और भी सुन्दर पुत्र होंगे।”
Jaritā said: "I myself saw the powerful hawk approach the hole, roam around, and then fly away from the hole with the rat.
जरीटा ने कहा: "मैंने स्वयं शक्तिशाली बाज़ को बिल के पास आते, इधर-उधर घूमते और फिर चूहे के साथ बिल से दूर उड़ते देखा।
I swiftly flew after the hawk, pronouncing blessings on it for having taken the rat away from the hole.
मैं चूहे को बिल से दूर ले जाने के लिए उसे आशीर्वाद देते हुए तेजी से बाज के पीछे उड़ गया।
O king of hawks! Since you are flying away with our hated enemy, may you reside in heaven, golden, and without any enemies.
हे बाजों के राजा! चूँकि आप हमारे घृणित शत्रु के साथ उड़ रहे हैं, आप स्वर्ग में, स्वर्णिम, और बिना किसी शत्रु के निवास करें।
O sons! Enter the hole confidently, there is nothing you should fear. It is certain that I have seen the hawk carry away the rat."

The Śārṅgaka-s replied: "O mother! We do not know whether the rat has really been carried away by the hawk. Without knowing, we cannot enter the hole."
सारंगकों ने उत्तर दिया: "हे माँ! हम नहीं जानते कि चूहे को वास्तव में बाज़ ले गया है या नहीं। बिना जाने, हम बिल में प्रवेश नहीं कर सकते।"
Jaritā said: "I know that the rat has been carried away by the hawk. Therefore, there is no fear and do as I say."
जरीता ने कहा: "मुझे पता है कि चूहे को बाज़ ले गया है। इसलिए, कोई डर नहीं है और जैसा मैं कहता हूं वैसा ही करो।"

The Śārṅgaka-s replied: "It is not that you are trying to free us from our great fear through a falsehood. When a person's knowledge is muddled, his acts do not result from intelligence.
शारंगकों ने उत्तर दिया: "ऐसा नहीं है कि आप झूठ के माध्यम से हमें हमारे महान भय से मुक्त करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। जब किसी व्यक्ति का ज्ञान गड़बड़ा जाता है, तो उसके कार्य बुद्धि से उत्पन्न नहीं होते हैं।

You have received no favours from us. You do not even know who we are. Who are we to you that you are trying to save us through so muc suffering to yourself?
आपको हमसे कोई उपकार नहीं मिला। तुम्हें यह भी नहीं पता कि हम कौन हैं. हम आपके लिए कौन हैं कि आप खुद को इतना कष्ट सहकर हमें बचाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं?
You are young and beautiful and are capable of finding a husband. Follow your husband and you will obtain handsome sons.
आप युवा और सुंदर हैं और पति ढूंढने में सक्षम हैं। अपने पति का अनुसरण करो और तुम्हें सुन्दर पुत्र प्राप्त होंगे।
We will enter the fire and attain the beautiful worlds. If the fire does not consume us, you will come back to us again."
हम अग्नि में प्रवेश करेंगे और सुंदर लोकों को प्राप्त करेंगे। यदि आग हमें भस्म न कर दे, तो तुम फिर हमारे पास लौट आओगे।”
Vaiśampāyana said: Having been thus addressed, the Śārṅga left her sons in Khāṇḍava and swiftly went to the regions where there was no fire and no fear.

The blazing fire with its piercing flames arrived at the place where the Śārṅgaka-s, Mandapāla's sons, were.

The Śārṅgaka-s saw the flames blazing in their energy. Jaritāri addressed these words, so that the fire could hear.
शारंगकों ने अपनी ऊर्जा में आग की लपटें जलती देखीं। जरीतारी ने इन शब्दों को संबोधित किया, ताकि आग सुन सके।
